Jude Ower wins ‘One to Watch’ and Virgin Unite takes Notice

London’s Haymarket Hotel was all the rage late last week with the much anticipated Talent Unleashed ‘One to Watch’ 2015 announcement.

There could only be one winner with Jude Ower, Founder and CEO of Playmob awarded the big prize from a finalist list of 15 technology entrepreneurs, innovators and social change makers.

Playmob is an organisation connecting game mechanics to social good by helping companies create ‘in-game giving’ through their video games – a very good fit for what the Talent Unleashed awards represent, so much so that our winner has caught the attention of the Virgin Unite community.

As well as taking time out to head up the judging panel over the course of the awards program, Head of Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson addressed all the 15 finalists for entering into the 2014 Unleashed Awards.

Branson said, “I’ve been bowled-over by the quality of the UK finalists. In this digital age it’s sometimes easy to lose sight of the personal journey that sits behind every great innovation but it’s your ideas that really shine through the award entries. These exciting concepts and technologies you’ve created will ensure that you enjoy many years of success and enrich the lives of millions of people touched by your drive and innovation.”

So where to now for the Talent Unleashed journey? Jude Ower and our APAC victors are getting ready for the trip of a life time as they travel to South Africa, where they will attend The Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship to take part in four days of workshops and activities. There will also be a bit of fun at the tail end of their trip.

Our winners will rub noses with colleagues from South Africa’s start-up ecosystem and will have ample networking opportunities to share ideas with like-minded technological innovators over the course of Global Entrepreneurial Week.
